Welcome to The Tennis Whisperer
To our returning readers—and to those just discovering us—welcome.
This site exists for players who think seriously about their tennis. Whether you’re chasing wins in competition or working toward a personal breakthrough, The Tennis Whisperer is here to help you build a smarter, more tailored game.
What We’re About
The Tennis Whisperer grew out of years immersed in the sport—not just playing, but coaching, watching, and constantly learning from the game.
He’s often been described by peers as one of the best players never to have played Davis Cup. But what set him apart wasn’t just how he played—it was how he saw the game, and how clearly he could explain it. His goal has always been to turn complex ideas into useful ones—helping players make sense of what they see and feel on court, and translate that into how they play.
Using this website allows the Whisperer to combine two lifelong passions: tennis and writing.
Most of the ideas shared here are straightforward enough to apply on your own. But if you’re based in Sydney, he’s occasionally available for private lessons.
What You’ll Find Here
The site is organized around four key themes:
1. Real Fundamentals (Ask the Pro)
Detailed guidance on positioning, footwork, timing, and mechanics—built for competitive play, not just textbook technique.
2. Strategy & Tactics (Whisperer)
Singles and doubles insights that go beyond basic patterns—focused on anticipation, adaptation, and decision-making.
3. Health & Longevity (Tennis4Life)
Training habits and recovery approaches that support performance over the long haul.
4. Tennis News & Gossip (Goss)
Occasional updates from the tennis world—especially around Badge season and other local events.
Posts come when something needs to be said: a sharp takeaway from a match, a teaching moment from a clinic, or an idea sparked by a lesson. Not everything will apply to everyone, but for players who want to evolve, there’s always something here.
Cutting Through the Noise
The tennis world is full of advice. Some of it is helpful. Much of it is generic.
Too often, players are told to copy a pro’s game—or chase the latest trend, like the “windscreen wiper” forehand. But real improvement doesn’t come from imitation. It comes from understanding how to shape your game around your own strengths.
That’s the philosophy behind The Tennis Whisperer: Build the game that fits you.
